1990 Rob Moroso
Today would have been Rob Moroso's 46th birthday. Moroso and his female companion were killed in a highway accident on Sept. 30, 1990, shortly following the Holly Farms 400 at North Wilkseboro Speedway. It was estimated that Moroso was traveling 75 mph in a 35 mph zone. It was later determined that Moroso had also been driving under the influence of alcohol. Moroso is a tragic example of the consequences of youthful indiscretion. He had already secured enough points to be named 1990 Winston Cup Rookie of the Year.

Fun Friday Answer!
On Friday, I featured this car and asked viewers to find the oddity. Scroll down to see if you were correct.
Racing Champion was constantly evolving in its early years, and variations weren't uncommon. This particular car has a variation I've never seen, though. The front tires have Racing Champions logos while the rears have Good Years!
I don't know if this variation makes the car any more valuable or not, but it's certainly good for a chuckle.

what it is.

1995 Johnny Rumley
Our final review of a past Dover winner comes with this Johnny Rumley car from 1995. Despite being a winning driver (Rumley won at Hickory in 1993) and a winning team (owner Don Beverley had been to victory lane with Jimmy Hensley and Hermie Sadler), this has to be considered an underdog victory. Rumley led one time for last 11 laps to take the victory on this date in 1995. Complete results can be found here.
This car was produced by Racing Champions in 1995. It differs from the race winner in the fact that this is a Monte Carlo while the winning car was actually a Lumina. Rumley's Lumina was never made.

Continuing our look at past Dover winners, this is the car that Harry Gant drove to victory on this date in 1991. Results of the 1991 Peak Antifreeze 500 can be found here.
This car was produced by Racing Champions in 1991. As was customary with tobacco and alcohol sponsored cars, this car doesn't display the Skoal Bandit graphics.
